You want to become a genius, and there must be a shortcut to it. You can’t just give up all your hobbies and amusements of life for reading books and working hard to become a genius. You need that one shortcut that can make people think that you are a genius.

Apparently, there is one shortcut to become a genius and it is called PUBLICITY.

Show an unpopular trick to a suitable audience and you will be called a genius.

In my early days using internet, I remember searching on Google for some card tricks. I have learnt a few tricks that were simple to perform but yet sophisticated if showed properly. Every time I could pull the stunt properly people regarded me as a card genius. Truth is neither did I invent these tricks nor did I understand the underlying mathematical principles that make the tricks feasible.

Anyone remember that one kid from elementary school that one day amazed everyone by squaring any two digit number very quickly? Everyone thought that he might be a genius. Now, this wasn’t any calculation that required a genius mind. With a trick learnt from a book and a little bit of practice anyone could stupefy elementary kids by quickly calculating squares of numbers.

Just for reference of the trick

Recently, I’ve seen a news article about a man that turned his three wheeler into a hybrid vehicle that can float on water. People cheered for him and called him a genius. Though that invention requires much hard work, it isn’t something new as some people claim it to be. Vehicles like this already appeared back in the twentieth century and were refused because of practicality.

Now, do these examples depict true geniuses? Of course it does, these people are genius actors. They might not be actual geniuses in their respective fields but they have acquired the shortcut method to appear geniuses.

S. Ramanujan (1887–1920)

Srinivasa Ramanujan, a mathematics genius, lived in India during the British rule. Though he lacked formal education, he gave solutions to problems that were considered unsolvable back then. No need to say that his works couldn’t be comprehended by people around him. In fact, even when he got to Britain, professionals failed to recognize his genius such were the novelty of his works.

Often, true geniuses are under the radar. They are not recognized by the average people. To comprehend any original creation some minimum amount of knowledge is required in that specific field. Without reaching that threshold in knowledge we will easily be stupefied by some tricksters like in the examples.

It’s really hard to become skilled in a field. Malcolm Gladwell, author of the bestseller book “Outliers”, mentions that 10,000 hours is the amount of time one must spend for greatness. Though this number need not be a constant factor, but you can take it as a comparison that skills don’t come easy.

One that talks in gibberish and jargons isn’t necessarily a genius. Chances are they are just blabbering some memorized facts or pulling out some unpopular tricks they have learned around. True genius come with critical thinking, relentless patience and hard work. And if you are pursuing to become a genius, don’t hesitate if people don’t recognize your talent instantly. If you stay true to your work someday your work will get published and you will be acknowledged as a TRUE GENIUS.
